Solar Generation Program (Opt-In)

As an owner of any residential property in Ocean Reef Marina, you may choose to "opt in" to host Ocean Reef Renewable Energy solar panels on your roof. In return for you agreeing to host Ocean Reef Renewable Energy solar panels, you get access to discounted electricity supply from Ocean Reef Renewable Energy (terms and conditions apply), compared to electricity supplied by Synergy at its regulated/gazetted A1 tariff (as adjusted from time to time). The discount is presently 20% off the consumption component of the Ocean Reef Renewable Energy A1 rate (which is equal to the Synergy rate).

If you host Ocean Reef Renewable Energy solar panels, they will be configured to pass 100% of solar energy generated back to the Ocean Reef Renewable Energy network rather than directly to your premises. As such, they will not reduce the amount of electricity you consume from the network. This is a difference between the Ocean Reef Renewable Energy Opt-in model and the way rooftop solar usually works. Instead of reducing your consumption of electricity from the network, Ocean Reef Renewable Energy offers discounted energy.

Whether Ocean Reef Renewable Energy's Opt-in model or conventional rooftop solar is better for you and your family is a personal decision based on a number of factors including the electricity consumption levels of your premises, when you consume electricity (for example mainly in the afternoons and evenings or throughout the whole day). You should seek independent advice on whether it makes more sense for you to Opt-in and host Ocean Reef Renewable Energy solar panels or arrange for your own solar panels.

You participate in hosting Ocean Reef Renewable Energy solar panels by agreeing to the Opt-in Agreement.
